I fully acknowledge the fact I am not the most cheery human being on the planet but, I take pride in being a realist, as I like to call it.
I know what you're thinking.
"What is a realist?"
What a fantastic question, I am so glad you asked.
I define a realist as someone who neither self-identifies as being either an optimist or a pessimist.
"Why is this a big deal?"
I hope, it immediately rips down the veil of internet anonymity. I could be the kind of person who says whatever I want to online and then do the exact opposite in real life, but I don't have any interest in being this kind of person.
At this point in time, I am all over the internet. Between my blog projects, writing projects, social media accounts, and additional online activities, anyone willing to put in the legwork could probably have a nude photo and/or video of me posted on the internet by the end of the week.

An example of being a realist would be, when someone asks me the age-old question of, "Is the glass half full or half empty?", my brain kicks into overdrive and starts to over analyze everything.
I really dislike the idea of this being considered a "simple question".
There are so many questions I must ask about this glass and its contents before I can answer.
What is in the glass exactly? Is it a content that can be fairly judged by its position in the glass by the naked eye?
Where is the glass? Is it atop a stack of books? Is it on a slope? A dining table? Is it set on an angled table fastened to a slope?
Who or what is responsible for the missing half of the glass' contents?
If the glass was filled to the top with water and I drank from the glass, then I would say the glass is half empty. If someone other than me drank from the glass, I would say the glass is half full.
Was the glass even filled to the top, to begin with?
This is my process for other similar questions as well.
Have you ever heard of this multiple choice question?
"If you are in a large crowd are you...":
A. In the back
B. Somewhere in the middle
C. Right up front
D. I don't know.
Who are these people? What is their purpose? Are we a diverse group? Do I have to bring my own pitchfork or will one be provided upon arrival?
These questions need to be answered if you're expecting me to be within 500 yards of this crowd.
This inquisitive rationale is who I am, it doesn't go away.
This brings me to the ultimate point I'm trying to make.
I am somewhere in the middle even when you may think I'm doom and gloom or even sunshine and rainbows. I stay away from both ends of the spectrum for a reason, they don't factor into reality as often as their engineers, promoters, and followers want you to believe. It is the reason I stay away from Fox News and MSNBC as much as possible.
Along with my thought process, I believe my selection of news sources, my internet feeds, and my own observations mirror reality as best as they possibly can.
If your internet feeds are filled with nothing but, cute animals, kids saying and/or doing stupid stuff, and sensationalistic and/or unreliable news sources. You are creating a digital illusion of the real world.
