Truth
Even with the new character increase on tweets, I stand by my comments on Twitter not being the best social media catalyst for change, however, there is some good truth serum making the rounds for a large majority of Twitter's users.
For example, the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup earlier this year and the question left on a lot of American's minds was, "How are so many kids playing soccer in America, yet, we can't even develop a qualifying team for the World Cup?".
At first, this sounds like a great question until;
Oh yeah, the US Women's National Team has won the World Cup three times.
Wait, what's that you say? The US Women's team makes less than the Men's team?
The needle has shifted, rightfully so.
Of course, there is a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and a lot of other obstacles in the way to be dealt with when it comes to this particular wage disparity, however, it's an important conversation.
This conversation may not ever happen but, if it does, Twitter helped get it started.
